John Wayne Parr calls out one of the greatest fighters of all time for a spar… ‘It would be very cool’

John Wayne Parr calls out Saenchai for a spar

John Wayne Parr would love to trade leather with Saenchai in a clash of two of the most gifted practitioners the art of eight limbs has ever seen.

In a match-up of the highest quality, The Gunslinger would go head-to-head with an icon, renowned for his ferocious pace and sublime strikes.

However, with so much respect for one another, they wouldn’t be battling it out with the aim of landing a knockout blow, but to have merely had the honor to have graced the squared circle with a fellow superstar of the game.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, Parr explained: “It would be so cool. One of my main things in the gym, instead of shadowboxing, I like play sparring with the boys, you’ll see Saenchai do it all the time—no shin pads, just 5%, flicking each other almost.

“It’s so much fun to learn control, balance, distance, counters, reaction times, and it’s just a fun way to warm up and more practical too, because you’re using your brain, you have to work out different maneuvers.

“I couldn’t think of a better play partner than Saenchai. He reached out, and he’s happy to do it. I’m talking to another gentleman now to see if we can work out venues. Then, if we can make it happen, it would be very cool.”

However, while the Australian has the utmost respect for his fellow sporting titan, he’s already concocted an amusing plan to give himself the advantage for their showdown.

He chuckled: “I’d love to interview Saenchai, because I can speak Thai, and maybe give him a few beers and then play spar.”
