Joe Rogan declares featherweight star a ‘future world champion’ after wild finish at UFC 314

Joe Rogan is buying the Jean Silva hype.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan knows MMA talent when he sees it. Throughout his time as one of the top UFC analysts, Rogan has seen the best in the worst of what the sport has to offer.

The UFC’s roster continues to expand in 2025 and beyond, with new stars surfacing every month. One of the biggest storylines of 2025 in the UFC, so far, is the rise of the Fighting Nerds team out of Brazil.

Rogan is keeping a close eye on a rising featherweight contender who put on a show earlier this month in the Octagon.

Joe Rogan dishes out high praise to UFC star Jean Silva

During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan made a bold claim about blossoming UFC star Jean Silva.

“The fight I really wanted to see was Bryce Mitchell vs. Jean Silva. Because Jean Silva is a m———-, dude. That guy looks like a world champion,” Rogan said of Silva. “To just beat [Bryce Mitchell] from pillar to post the entire fight, was smiling and laughing, looked like he was never threatened or in danger. Just like he was on another level, way above Bryce…looked like a world champion.

“Even guys that have beat Bryce Mitchell before, except Josh Emmett who just KO’d him with one punch, but even Ilia Topuria had to get a hold of him first…Jean Silva made it look like it was never a fight, he was just having fun…and then finally just put him to sleep. He’s an animal, man.”

Silva finished Bryce Mitchell inside two rounds at UFC 314 earlier this month, continuing his unbeaten run in the promotion. After defeating Mitchell, Silva entered the featherweight Top 15 and called for a title shot.

Silva is riding a ton of momentum after his performance at UFC 314. After Ilia Topuria left the division and Alexander Volkanovski reclaimed the featherweight throne, the division is in desperate need of fresh stars.

While a featherweight title shot next is unlikely, Silva’s high profile will likely culminate in another big-name fight against a top contender. Aljamain Sterling, Patricio ‘Pitbull’, and Dan Ige are a few names to keep an eye on for Silva’s return opponent.

Rogan pitched a potential showdown between Silva and Yair Rodriguez, who earned a big win at UFC 314 on the main card. Like Silva, Rodriguez has also called for a title shot despite losses in two of his last three fights.

Regardless of who Silva fights next, it’ll be under another big spotlight, and Rogan believes it won’t be long until he enters the featherweight title picture.
