Jon Jones had to sit down to avoid fainting after realizing he’d suffered a horrific injury following his win over Chael Sonnen.
A few years into his UFC light heavyweight title reign, Jon Jones had already been matched up with several legends of the sport.
In his second title defense, Jones left Lyoto Machida out cold following one of the most brutal submissions of all time.
He then defended his title against Rashad Evans, whom he later went on to admit hit him the hardest out of all of his opponents.
After then securing an emphatic submission win over Vitor Belfort, ‘Bones’ was matched up against one of the greatest trash talkers of all time in Chael Sonnen for The Ultimate Fighter Season 17 at UFC 159.

Jon Jones suffered horror injury after beating up UFC legend
Immediately after the fight began, Jones and Sonnen met in the center of the Octagon as Sonnen attempted to take ‘Bones’ down to the ground.
It was Jones, though, who scored an early takedown, but the challenger made it back to his feet and started to land some punches in the clinch.
Again, though, Jones took Sonnen down to the ground and landed some big ground-and-pound shots, potentially looking to make a point about his wrestling credentials.
With just under 30 seconds left of round one, the referee stopped the fight after Jones continued to brutalize Sonnen on the ground.
Despite going through the fight relatively untouched, after being presented with the title, Jones looked down and realized he’d suffered a horrific injury to his toe, which looked like it was just about hanging on, making Joe Rogan aware of it during their Octagon interview.
“Uh oh, he’s got a broken foot,” Rogan exclaimed as Jones’ corner team ran over with a stool for him to sit on as he queezily looked at his toe.
“I wasn’t planning on breaking my big toe, it’s all nasty, man. I was supposed to go to Jamaica after this, now I don’t think that’s gonna happen,” Jones reacted.
Jon Jones’ next title defense could finally be set
His win over Sonnen was just one of many incredible wins throughout his career, and of course, Jones went on to become the heavyweight champion.
Throughout his career, the 37-year-old has continuously beaten the next best opponent, however, fans believe his time at the top could finally be over as he moves closer to a title unification fight against Tom Aspinall.
After months of the fight being delayed and fans not knowing whether the fight is going to happen, it has been officially agreed, according to none other than Sonnen.
