Eddie Hall ‘almost died’ setting deadlift world record 9 years before World’s Strongest Man fight

Eddie Hall is most well-known for becoming the World’s Strongest Man in 2017, years before he entered the world of combat sports.

This coming weekend, one of the heaviest fights in MMA history takes place when Eddie Hall meets Mariusz Pudzianowski at KSW 105 in Poland.

Hall called out the fellow World’s Strongest Man winner last year after knocking out two fighters in a bizarre 2vs1 fight, showcasing his skills in the cage for the first time.

Since then, Eddie Hall has trained with UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, who has been attempting to get him ready for his upcoming World’s Strongest Man fight.

Eddie Hall ‘almost died’ after setting world record

Mariusz Pudzianowski has been crowned the World’s Strongest Man five times before making his move to MMA in 2009, where he has slowly become a big name in the heavyweight division.

Hall has been attempting to make his way into the combat sports world for a while now, and after exhibition boxing events and bizarre 2vs1 fights, he will finally step into professional action on Saturday.

However, nine years ago, the Brit claims he almost died after producing the world record for the heaviest deadlift ever, lifting 500kg.

“When I lifted it, and as soon as it got past my knees and I was at the halfway point, I guess it was just that, not a feeling of like, f— you to everyone but a feeling of like, ‘There you go.'” Hall began to explain in an interview with Rob Moore.

“I blacked out, I did the lift, got the down call, and stood there and enjoyed it for a bit, and then when I released, it was like that massive dump of blood just gets flushed all over the place. I managed to unhook a hand and just went (unconscious).

“I was convulsing… I was in and out of consciousness, convulsing all around, and it took me a minute to compose myself, there was blood everywhere… My blood pressure was unreadable… My body just couldn’t deal with it… It was a very worrying time,” he continued to tell the story.

Hall and Pudzianowski set to tip the scales at over 600lbs

Their clash this coming Saturday is set as a super heavyweight fight, and the two former World’s Strongest Men are set to tip the scales at over 600lbs.

Ahead of their fight in Poland, the two behemoths awkwardly ran into each other, showing just how big both men are.

Pudzianowski, of course, has far more experience than ‘The Beast’ when it comes to combat sports, having scored big wins over the likes of Butterbean and Bob Sapp during his career.
