Adin Ross joked that Grammy-winning rapper Drake ‘needed’ his latest UFC betting win amid a record of losses.
The music mogul bet $545,000 on the main event of UFC 314 on Saturday night, backing Alexander Volkanovski to beat Diego Lopes for the featherweight title. He is infamous for losing his bets on fights, but managed to land a rare win as the Australian reclaimed the belt.
He is a known gambler, but has become known for putting the ‘Drake curse’ on fighters when he backs them to win. However, Volkanovski broke that curse with his victory at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Saturday night.

Adin Ross and Drake react as rapper wins over $900,000 on UFC 314
Drake made headlines on Saturday night when he backed Volkanovski to beat Lopes in Miami. He staked a whopping $545,000 on the result, which returned him $915,600 total when the Australian dominated on all three scorecards.

He and Adin Ross then did a live stream on Kick last night, where they gambled with fans and engaged in a number of bets as a promotion for an online betting company. During the stream, he made sure to send a brief message to the newly-crowned champion.
“Shout out to Volk the other night locking that bet in for me, thank you,” Drake said while placing another bet. Ross then agreed that it was “good s—,” before trolling his rapper pal by joking that “you needed that win,” given his record at the UFC.
Alexander Volkanovski wants quickfire return to the cage
After landing the big victory, Volkanovski is keen to stay active now that he is world champion he again. He was entering the fight off the back of knockout defeats to Ilia Topuria and Islam Makhachev and needed a 14-month break to recover in time for his return.
However, he is unfazed by concerns over his health even after being temporarily blinded during the fight, and wants to be out again by the end of the summer. “If everything is good, I’d probably like to go sooner than [September, to be honest.
“I reckon that’s probably the second fight. If I’m good, maybe it can be July and then September, maybe we can fit it in I mean, Movsar [Evloev], if they want to do that, if they want to quickly go and I feel good, maybe a quick turnaround with Movsar if I don’t have busted hands. That was my plan, bang, bang, bang,”
