One of the biggest fights the UFC could make this year could potentially be set after Khamzat Chimaev sent fans wild online with a teasing post.
Following Khamzat Chimaev‘s win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 last October, it became clear that he would likely fight for the middleweight title in his next fight.
UFC middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis then went on to defend his title for a second time when he defeated Sean Strickland at UFC 312 in a controversially put-together title fight.
After ‘Stillknocks’ defended the title, fans once again began to call for his next fight to come against Chimaev, with it being one of the most desired fights in 2025.

Khamzat Chimaev sends fans wild with two-word post
With ‘Borz’ undoubtedly next in line, rumors have circulated recently that the UFC is looking at putting together the middleweight title fight for International Fight Week’s UFC 317 on June 28.
The promotion returned to Miami this past Saturday for UFC 314 and following the event, UFC boss Dana White hinted at Du Plessis vs Chimaev potentially headlining UFC 317 when he was asked about that fight.
“Yeah, (we’re pretty close to announcing the UFC 317 main event). That would be fun (to have Chimaev in the main event). Tuesday,” White said in the post-fight press conference, hinting at an imminent announcement.
Just a few days later, the Chechen fighter has sent UFC fans wild with a two-word update post, potentially teasing that his fight against Du Plessis has been signed, following White’s comments.
“Good news,” Chimaev stated in a post on X.
There were previous concerns regarding Chimaev’s ability to attain a visa to fight in the United States, however, since Donald Trump has been re-elected, that is no longer seen as a potential issue.
“DDP vs Khamzat International Fight Week confirmed,” one fan commented.
“The date is set for DDP’s execution,” another fan reacted.
“Who are you fighting? Got a passport? Visa?” a third fan questioned.
“You are gonna run into a brick wall. DDP runs over you,” another fan predicted the potential fight.
Despite Chimaev’s incredibly dominant run, many fighters and analysts are backing Du Plessis to hand Chimaev his first loss.
Dricus Du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev set to be an incredible build-up
Since becoming UFC 185lb champion, the South African has gained more and more respect with each outing, despite his extremely unorthodox fight style.
One way in which he has gained even more fans, is with his antics on the microphone at press conferences and during media interviews.
Du Plessis’ trash talk has been branded as some of the best in the sport, having made both Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya cry during their fight build-ups.
With him and Chimaev having already shared words online, the build-up to their potential fight is set to be utterly tantalizing, ending with what also promises to be an incredibly intriguing fight.
