Joe Rogan was not impressed at all as beloved UFC heavyweight Tai Tuivasa performed a ‘shoey’ in Miami tonight.
Rogan is on the call for UFC 314, which Tuivasa was attending as a fan when he appeared during the broadcast to a massive reception from the Florida crowd. He quickly got to his famed party trick, much to the delight of his fans on the broadcast.
Tuivasa is infamous for the ‘shoey’, which consists of him pouring a beer into his shoe and drinking from it. There is an optional added step, noted by Daniel Cormier, which includes spitting in the shoe, which truly horrified Rogan.

Joe Rogan horrified as Tai Tuivasa does a ‘shoey’ at UFC 314
On Saturday night, during the UFC 314 prelims, cameras panned throughout the arena to show off the celebrities in the crowd. One name who got a big reception from the crowd was heavyweight star Tai Tuivasa, who appears to be done with fighting given his look on the night.
Immediately once he was shown, he pulled out his shoe and began to drink a beer from it, much to the delight of the Florida public. Joe Rogan was not one bit impressed, telling Cormier and Jon Anik afterwards how disgusted he was.
“No, no, no,” Rogan cried as the broadcast team debated the spitting element of the stunt. “He’s so nasty.”
Joe Rogan has never liked the ‘shoey’ stunt
As long as Tai Tuivasa has been doing shoeys, Joe Rogan has not been a fan of the idea. He has discussed the trend on his podcast as far back as 2019, telling close friend Eddie Bravo that he finds the entire thing horrifying.
“It’s so disgusting, it’s so foul,” he joked after explaining the idea. “I don’t get it, but I get it. He likes to party, he’s like that dude in Talladega Nights, John C Reilly, he’s like ‘I like to party,’ he likes to drink out of shoes, f— it, he’s an animal.
“I guess, like, if you want to really show you don’t give a f— that’s a good way to go about doing it. Just grab a man’s shoe and pour a beer into it and drink it. His dirty smelly feet have been funking around, imagine if you died from that!”
