Who is Bryce Mitchell? Meet ‘Thug Nasty,’ the outspoken featherweight shaking up the UFC

As dangerous in the ring as he is controversial outside of it, Bryce Mitchell is somebody you do not want to miss in the octagon.

The outspoken “Thug Nasty” is a figure known inside and outside of MMA. Bryce Mitchell’s bizarre and offensive rants have earned him notoriety, although he still holds his own in the octagon despite his infamy.

Despite recent losses to Ilia Topuria and Josh Emmett, Mitchell is still a strong contender in the Featherweight and somebody who could worry the champion in the months and years to come.

Bryce Mitchell net worth

Mitchell has a reported net worth of $1.5 million as of June 2024. However, MMASalaries reported just $324,000 of fight earnings throughout his career, which is likely an inaccurate number for an athlete with 11 UFC fights to his name.

However, his income is not solely from fighting in the UFC. Mitchell is also a cattle farmer and derives an income from dealing in the cattle he raises. He also released a country rap mixtape in 2021 called “Pasture Fire”, to mixed critical acclaim.

Bryce Mitchell next fight

Mitchell’s next fight is a clash with Jean Silva at UFC 314 on April 12. The bout takes place in Miami and is one of three Featherweight fights on the show’s main card.

The tension between the two has been heating up in the build-up. Mitchell accused Silva of cursing him with demons to stop him from sleeping, which the Brazilian soundly rejected.

The American fighter is currently 13th in the Featherweight rankings and has the chance to move up the rankings with a win over Silva at UFC 314. However, many fans are predicting Silva to beat Mitchell in what should be an interesting fight.

Bryce Mitchell walk-out song

At UFC 310, Mitchell walked out to the song “Rich Men North of Richmond” by Oliver Anthony.

The song touches on issues felt by the working class of America, especially in rural areas. Given Mitchell’s background as a farmer, it is easy to tell why this song resonated with him.

Bryce Mitchell vs. Josh Emmett

The fight between Mitchell and Emmett at UFC 296 produced one of the most brutal knockouts in the UFC.

Emmett teased the jab into the right cross into the body multiple times in the first round, conditioning his opponent to protect his body.

This was a clever play by Emmett, as later in the round he activates the trap he just set. With just two minutes to go in the round, he feinted another jab. As Thug Nasty expected another right cross the body, Emmett landed a surprising overhand right into the face of Mitchell, knocking him out instantly.

As he lay twitching on the floor, the decision for Mitchell to take the fight with two weeks’ notice was realized to be a poor one.
