Mauricio Ruffy has extended a tempting offer to Conor McGregor ahead of his run to the UFC lightweight title.
Ever since his appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023, Mauricio Ruffy has been highlighted as a potential future champion in the UFC lightweight division.
The Brazilian then catapulted himself even further into superstardom when he scored Knockout of the Year at UFC 313, rendering Bobby Green completely unconscious.
And now, the Fighting Nerd is on the verge of a big-name opponent, potentially putting himself closer to the lightweight title conversation.

Mauricio Ruffy extends official invitation to Conor McGregor to get revenge
Since his debut in the promotion, Ruffy has garnered consistent comparisons to Conor McGregor, with fans and pundits claiming that he reminds them of a young Conor McGregor.
Reacting to the comparisons, the 28-year-old has admitted that his style does include some McGregor-like tendencies as he has always been a fan of the former UFC double champion.
“In the construction of Mauricio Ruffy, there was always a little bit of Conor McGregor there,” Ruffy told MMAJunkie.
“I’m a big Conor McGregor fan, I love McGregor’s style, and there is a little bit of McGregor there,” Ruffy continued.
McGregor was infamously part of one of the biggest feuds in combat sports history with Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team, which includes Islam Makhachev.
With Ruffy hopeful of securing a title fight against Makhachev in the not-so-distant future, he has extended an invitation to McGregor, offering him the chance for revenge.
“When I’m ready to fight Islam Makhachev, when I go to fight him, I want to invite Conor McGregor to be in my corner so it’s us against the Russians. I want McGregor there, I want McGregor to be able to be up close and taste the victory for when I beat the Russians.
“Khabib’s gonna be there, of course, so I want McGregor to be there as part of my corner for when I defeat them and put an end to Islam Makhachev,” Ruffy continued.
Ruffy hopeful of a last-minute appearance on UFC 314 card
Following his win over Green, the 28-year-old is already looking at when he can potentially return to the cage, looking to continue his extremely impressive run.
The Brazilian will be traveling to Miami for UFC 314 this Saturday and is hoping to secure a role of being the backup fighter for the huge lightweight fight between Paddy Pimblett and Michael Chandler.
However, with that being unlikely, the Fighting Nerd has highlighted UFC 317 on International Fight Week as his potential return date, targeting Beneil Dariush as his potential opponent.
