Michael Chandler has given his view on what he thinks about Conor McGregor claiming that he could retire from MMA to run in the Irish Presidential election.
‘The Notorious’ and ‘Iron’ have been on a collision course for years, with the pair filming The Ultimate Fighter Season 31, and agreeing to a clash, which the Irishman pulled out of through injury.
While the American hasn’t given up hope, Chandler’s plan to call out McGregor after UFC 314, has hit a bump in the road.
The grappler has now reacted to the Dubliner flirting with the idea of hanging up the gloves.

Michael Chandler says Conor McGregor has to fight him if he makes UFC comeback
Conor McGregor recently voiced his intentions to make an Irish political run, leaving Michael Chandler in a state of dismay.
While the ex-Bellator King says he isn’t waiting around for his arch nemesis, he’d still love nothing more than to finally get his hands on the former two-weight UFC champion.
In an interview with The Schmo, Chandler explained: “He’s making that push for the President of Ireland. We’ll see how true it is, or how much of a publicity stunt it is.
“As you guys can see, we had the TUF 31 deal, waited for the Conor fight, got the fight booked; he pulled out. Who knows if he’s ever coming back?
“You can see by my actions of fighting Charles Oliveria in November and now Paddy Pimblett in April, I’m not sitting around waiting for Conor.
“He knows his road back to the UFC goes through me. We have to finish The Ultimate Fighter 31. We still have a contract with both of our names on it, even though he was not a man of his word in showing up.
“First time he’s ever pulled out of a fight was against me in his entire career. I don’t think he wants that to be his legacy. However, if he does, I wish him well in his presidential run in Ireland. But if he comes back to the UFC, he has to fight me.”
Michael Chandler wants to end the Conor McGregor story once and for all
With so much of his career dedicated to chasing Conor McGregor, Chandler is determined to finally reach the conclusion of his feud with the striker.
He explained: “I’m campaigning for that. I want that chapter of my life to be closed. I’m not sitting here saying I’m entitled to it; nobody is entitled to anything ever in life.
“But I will say, being a man of your word, signing your name to the dotted line is something that I take very seriously. Your word is your bond, and without your word, you’re no good.
“So, we’ll see. I think it’s a fight people want to see. I’m still the guy who puts b—- on seats and sells PPVs. Somehow, win, lose or draw, I’m in Fight of the Nights. I’ve got the resume, and he’s got the following and hunger to come back.”
