Despite the fact that a huge fight with Alex Pereira may have gotten away from him, Dricus du Plessis is set for a huge year in 2025.
The South African champion seemingly has one of the most anticipated title fights in recent times on the horizon with fans split between du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev.
Since winning the middleweight title, ‘Stillknocks’ has started to be paid his dues but it isn’t just his fighting ability that has received recognition.
Du Plessis has become one of the best trash talkers in the sport so whether you’re a champion like Belal Muhammad or a fellow middleweight like Brendan Allen or his latest target, no one is safe.
Fans praise Dricus du Plessis’ trash talk as he responds to Shara Magomedov
In a recent interview with Sport24, Shara Magomedov stated that he’ll be very happy to see Dricus du Plessis lose the middleweight title with Khamzat Chimaev being next for him.
‘Bullet’, who recently lost his undefeated record to Michael ‘Venom’ Page in February, said that he doesn’t understand how ‘Stillknocks’ keeps winning, claiming that the South African might just be “lucky”.
Du Plessis quickly responded by sharing a post on his Instagram story which mocked Magomedov’s recent defeat and his vision with the striker not being able to see out of his right eye following severe damage and multiple unsuccessful operations.
“My man… you got one eye on the ceiling and the other at the TV, you not seeing the same DDP as the rest of us… Guys are out here losing fights, no where near contending and talking smack.”
Du Plessis then personally wrote another response on X underneath a post about Magomedov’s comments as he joked about the Russian’s eyesight.
“Somebody get my guy some eye drop”
The reaction from the fans was further evidence of people loving his trash talk which we have seen more and more of in recent times.
“DDP IS ICE COLD,” wrote one fan following the champion’s comebacks whilst another referenced du Plessis’ track record for making previous opponent’s emotional.
“Bro…don’t make him cry, at least wait for press conference lol.”

Dricus du Plessis is sure to have some ammunition reserved for Khamzat Chimaev
Whilst it seems unlikely that Khamzat Chimaev will engage in a war of words with Dricus du Plessis, you know for a fact that the champion will have a couple of punch lines up his sleeve regardless.
Chimaev isn’t one to trash talk but the intensity that ‘Borz’ brings to a fight week more than makes up for it even if he was more reserved last time out.
His eventual clash with the middleweight champion isn’t just a fascinating matchup because of the styles that both men bring to the table.
They’re such different personalities that it should make for must-watch viewing from the start of fight week to the time that they exit the Octagon.
