Charles Oliveira believes we have seen the last of Conor McGregor in the UFC, and his recent retirement admission backs his claim.
Following his win over Michael Chandler at UFC 309, Charles Oliveira believes he did enough to earn himself a shot at a rematch against lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and has implored the UFC to make the fight.
Despite that, the Brazilian has also gotten involved in a feud with Ilia Topuria, with ‘Do Bronx’ linked to potentially be Topuria’s first opponent since permanently moving up to lightweight.
During his time out of action, Oliveira has continuously commented on the state of the lightweight division, as well as the sport’s biggest star, Conor McGregor.

Charles Oliveira comments on McGregor’s fighting future as retirement surfaces
Oliveira has previously teased a potential fight against McGregor, but that was when ‘The Notorious’ seemingly had a UFC comeback at the forefront of his mind.
Despite that, this past Thursday, McGregor made a surprising admission regarding his potential UFC retirement, claiming that he is happy with what he has achieved in the sport and is putting his focus on his pursuit to become the President of Ireland.
“To be honest, I don’t know why people are still talking about Conor McGregor. He has done everything he wanted to do in the sport, and now he chooses to live his life the way he is living,” Oliveira told Oddspedia.
“I think the fans should forget about Conor McGregor coming back, he isn’t going to fight again,” the former UFC lightweight champion continued.
Charles Oliveira claims he would KO Ilia Topuria in potential fight
Although ‘Do Bronx’ is hopeful of a rematch against Makhachev, it is still unclear in what direction the promotion will go, with ‘La Leyenda’ potentially favored over the Brazilian.
Despite originally being not too keen on a fight against Topuria, Oliveira has admitted that he would fight the 28-year-old if he is asked to by the promotion.
“Whoever I get told to fight, I’m going to fight. I have nothing but respect for Ilia Topuria, but this is lightweight. It’s the most difficult division you have ever seen, and I have power in my hands.
“I believe in my Jiu-Jitsu, but I believe that I could knock Ilia Topuria out,” Oliveira claimed.
