Terence Crawford highlights thing he ‘loves about UFC’ that Floyd Mayweather eradicated from boxing

Terence Crawford has highlighted the one thing MMA has over boxing.

‘Bud’ is a four-weight world title winner, who is the first male boxer in history to become a two-division undisputed champion in the ‘four-belt era’.

A super fight with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is set to take place in September, provided the Mexican boxing legend overcomes William Scull to become the undisputed super middleweight champion on May 3.

Terence Crawford is proud of his 41-0 professional boxing record, but he wishes he didn’t have to be undefeated to be popular.

Terence Crawford reveals what he loves about the UFC

Crawford recently sat down for a chat with former UFC champions Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo.

During their conversation, the boxing superstar highlighted one area where MMA is better than boxing.

The 37-year-old believes that ever since Floyd Mayweather went 50-0 in the ring, fighters have become desperate to remain undefeated because of the detrimental impact losing is likely to have on their career.

In contrast, the UFC’s biggest stars are still passionately supported even after they suffer a loss inside the Octagon.

“One thing I love about UFC is that a guy can lose and still be supported,” Crawford said.

“Nowadays in boxing, Floyd made it to where you lose and they are kicking you to the curb. And, ‘Oh, you is a bum’. It’s like, ‘Man! Dude lost to a good fighter.’ Do you know what I mean?

“[Floyd] left with an unblemished record, and he set the bar high. So now everybody is trying to protect the 0 because you get one loss, now you’ve gotta go way to the back of the bus.

“It’s like dang! Your shine is off now because of the fans and the media and how they go around.

“Back in the day, these fighters fought each other two and three times. I lost to him. I beat him. They were doing trilogies. You don’t ever see that no more.”

Will Terence Crawford ever fight in MMA?

Unlike most boxers, Crawford has some grappling ability after growing up in a wrestling family.

Last October, it was revealed that Crawford turned down a $200 million clash with Conor McGregor.

The offer was for Crawford and McGregor to fight under MMA rules before doing a boxing rematch.

Everyone got excited when the boxing icon returned to the wrestling mat after appearing to rethink his fight rejection, but since then, talk about the mega-money crossover fight has gone quiet.

It seems Crawford is struggling to come to terms with one brutal aspect of MMA.

“Don’t kick me, man. Conor, don’t kick me,” he said with a laugh when asked about the prospect of changing sports for a fight with McGregor.
