The biggest fight of 2025 still appears to be hanging in the balance despite some positive updates in recent times.
At UFC London, Tom Aspinall trolled Jon Jones once again by showing a rubber duck when the cameras cut to him on the broadcast.
All signs point towards one side holding things up with the PFL even offering a huge amount of money to Jones for the Francis Ngannou fight instead.
Whilst that seems even more unlikely at this stage, fans are clamouring for some form of concrete evidence of what is next.
Whilst Aspinall was in London where he teased some more news, Jones has taken the first steps into a new venture after becoming the co-owner of Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing Championship.

Mark Coleman says Jon Jones will fight Tom Aspinall after speaking to him at Dirty Boxing
The first official Dirty Boxing Championship event took place this past weekend where Yoel Romero secured his second win in the promotion.
Jon Jones, unsurprisingly given the news of his involvement, was in town for the show as he cheered on his teammate Maurice Green who came up short earlier on in the night.
UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman was also in attendance at The Hanger in Miami on Saturday night to see what the promotion was all about whilst Tom Aspinall sat cage side in London.
In a social media post after the event, Coleman shared a photo of him and Jones whilst reflecting on his exchange with the current UFC heavyweight champion.
Coleman didn’t exactly go into detail but he did make two things very clear.
He stated that ‘Bones’, like many believe, is the greatest of all time whilst giving the fight between him and Aspinall a green light.
Given that the Brit has been very clear that he wants this fight with no room for alternatives, this is further proof that things are heading in the right direction despite the fact that we don’t know for sure what Jones said to Coleman.
“I ran across the Champ at dirty Boxing. He is the GOAT. He will be fighting Aspinall soon. We are so brothers. God is great. HammerHouse4Life”
Jon Jones could break the MMA fanbase whenever he wants
Throughout this entire process, a lot of fight fans have been critical of Jon Jones and his approach to a potential fight with Tom Aspinall.
Even now where there are encouraging signs about the fight, ‘Bones’ has still shown little interest in the matchup and whilst that could be a negotiation tactic, Jones would cause a shockwave around the combat sports world with even just a small post about fighting the interim champion.
It still feels like it’s too early to get excited about the prospect of it happening at some point in 2025 but that is only increasing the demand even further.
