Colby Covington threatens to slap UFC commentator ‘trying to trash’ his name

‘Chaos’ has been known to call out commentators in the past but now he’s got a new target.

In his last outing inside the Octagon, Colby Covington’s return saw him lose via doctor stoppage in his clash with Joaquin Buckley.

His second consecutive defeat has led to some scathing criticism from the likes of Daniel Cormier who questioned whether Covington’s persona has run its course.

The former interim welterweight champion has always been outspoken about his fellow and former fighters which has led to a lot of burnt bridges.

As a result, Covington has had some awkward in-person exchanges with people that he has publicly slammed in the past but now he’s hoping for a face-to-face encounter with ‘The Irish Dragon’.

Colby Covington wants to slap Paul Felder, tells ’embarrassing’ story about the UFC commentator

In a recent interview with Submission Radio’s Denis Shkuratov, Colby Covington spoke about the potential opponents that would interest him for his next fight.

The 18th fight of his UFC career is absolutely crucial for the 37-year-old given how far his stock has fallen due to his recent performances.

However, when listing the names that would get him excited, Covington mentioned how UFC commentator Paul Felder has spoken negatively about him in recent times.

‘Chaos’ went on to explain his beef with Felder and told a story about a time where they visited a military base where he believes that ‘The Irish Dragon’ disrespected the troops.

“If Paul Felder keeps running his mouth from the commentary booth, he’s going to get slapped as well, that self-loathing… dude, he was talking s— about me. He was saying some s— that he’s done this and that and some other s—. Hey Denis, I want you to go ask him next time you see him in person, ask him about the time we were at Joint Base Langley Eustace, the Army and Air Force base and he got tied f—— in handcuffs by the military police to a toilet in his bathroom cuz he was drunk on the base.

“Like that’s embarrassing you self-loathing drunk a——. He must be drunk half the time he’s in that commentary booth for the UFC. Man, I feel bad for the UFC, they need to get some new commentators and what better man, I could be the UFC commentator. I don’t have any stories like that.”

Covington went on to say that he will absolutely address this in-person the next time that he sees Felder who isn’t usually a hard man to find due to his broadcasting role.

“Oh yeah, we’re definitely gonna have a word. I’ve kept that story close to my heart for a long time and I was never going to share it but when you start trying to trash my name in the media and say things about me, what the f— is a Paul Felder? What the f— has Paul Felder done?

“Denis, I make more money outside the UFC than that guy’s made in his whole entire life. Like the guy’s an absolute bum, he’s never done anything in the sport. He has no reason to talk s—, especially when he’s never been in a main event in his life. The guy’s a bum, he’s gotten beat up by everybody, he’s literally a punch bag in the UFC and he’s a self-loathing drunk a——.”

What could be next for Colby Covington?

Colby Covington’s ideas of who he should fight next are often quite different compared to what the fans want to see, and perhaps the UFC too.

In the same interview, he spoke about potential options in Michael ‘Venom’ Page, the Diaz brothers and a potential move to middleweight.

Whilst 185-pounds seems like quite a big jump for the former three-time welterweight title challenger, Page is a fight that is both a high profile matchup for both men without being unreachable for ‘Chaos’.

Vicente Luque could be another option but that’s not likely to excite Covington and it doesn’t seem likely that Ian Machado Garry would choose to fight him at this stage.
