Less than a few minutes after securing the biggest win of his UFC career, Sean Brady was called out for a No. 1 contender fight by a surging knockout artist.
Domination, pure domination: Sean Brady battered Leon Edwards from pillar to post last night, showcasing every facet of his game en route to securing a fourth-round submission win.
The immensely impressive victory means that the American will likely be ranked as the No. 1 welterweight contender come Tuesday’s update – which itself, puts a sizable target on his colorful back.

Sean Brady called out by dangerous contender on ‘generational run’
Sean Brady put on a truly dominant performance last night at UFC London.
Not only did the now 18-1 welterweight out-land Leon Edwards 57-23 on significant strikes, but he also went 5 for 7 on his takedowns and racked up over 11 minutes of control time on the ground… All before locking up a fourth-round guillotine choke.
Almost the entire MMA world stood up to applaud the Philly-grappling machine; we say almost, as there were one or two antagonizing comments from champion Belal Muhammad to deal with.
The victory puts Brady in prime position for a title shot, although there’s a dangerous top contender who’d like to challenge himself against the Philadelphia native – Joaquin ‘New Mansa’ Buckley.
Taking to social media as the UFC Fight Night main event kicked off, Buckley claimed that it was “Sad I don’t feel no aura from these mfs lol,” before calling out Brady for a no.1 contender fight.
“Congrats Sean. If [Kamaru] Usman don’t want no smoke, what ya think about Brady Bunch Vs Buck.”
Buckley is currently ranked #6 and is on a six-fight winning streak that includes stoppages over Vicente Luque, Stephen Thompson, and Colby Covington.
A fan of ‘New Mansa’ replied to the post, “Welterweight is lowkey overcrowded. Shavkat should’ve fought for the title, Brady is the new No1 contender and Buckley is on a generational run, idk where we go from here.”
The solution, according to Buckley, is for a one-night round-robin: “Why not a 3-man match for the shot at the belt,” laughed the St. Louis knockout artist.

Sean Brady reacts to leapfrogging his way into UFC title contention
Brady entered UFC London as the number five ranked welterweight contender and will likely take Edwards’ #1 spot come Tuesday’s update – statement needed; statement made.
“Is it a statement coming in here and beating Leon in his hometown, I think so,” Brady told media at the post-fight presser, noting that finishing Edwards also puts him in a unique position.
“If you look at Ian [Machado Garry] and Shavkat [Rakhmonov] last performance, wasn’t great.
“Jack’s fight before that, he was losing to Gilbert Burns before he wasn’t – I dominated Gilbert Burns, and I just dominated Leon Edwards, so I think I’m right there [in title contention].”
Speaking with McKenzie Pavacich via UFC News, Brady teased that his next fight will either be for the welterweight title or a title eliminator, as there’s a deadline to meet.
“Another big fight [next], whether I’m fighting for the belt or [against] the guy who’s fighting next for the belt, that’s what I’m hoping for… I want to be champion by the end of 2025, and I think that’s really possible right now.”
Brady moves to 18-1 as a professional, while Leon Edwards drops to 22-5.
