Jon Jones announces huge career move as Tom Aspinall fight talks stall

Jon Jones has announced a huge change in his career as talks continue to stall over his potential UFC title unification fight against Tom Aspinall.

Since successfully defending his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, Jon Jones has continuously received criticism from the UFC fanbase regarding his next move.

Ever since Tom Aspinall won the interim heavyweight title at UFC 295 at the end of 2023, Jones knew that he would likely have to unify the title against the British star.

Despite that, the consensus greatest fighter of all time has continuously delayed that fight from taking place, with Jones more recently claiming that he needs six months to prepare for the fight.

Jon Jones becomes co-owner of UFC rival promotion

With fight talks continuing to stall, Aspinall has concerningly revealed that he is open to fighting someone else instead of continuing to wait for Jones to return.

And with that fight seemingly no closer to being officially announced this Friday afternoon, it was surprisingly announced that Jones has become the co-owner of Mike Perry‘s combat sports promotion, Dirty Boxing Championship.

The promotion held its inaugural event this past November, behind closed doors, as former UFC star, Yoel Romero picked up a win in their first-ever main event.

Jones was in attendance for the event and provided a shocked reaction to Romero’s KO.

Now, following in Conor McGregor‘s footsteps, as the Irish star became the co-owner of BKFC, ‘Bones’ is scheduled to be in attendance for their first official event this coming weekend DBX1.

“I was hooked from the first show. I believe this is going to be a powerhouse of combat sports. I’m proud to sign my name next to it,” Jones said regarding Dirty Boxing Championship (h/t TMZ).

Yoel Romero to headline first official Dirty Boxing Championship event

The timing of the 37-year-old’s involvement comes quite fittingly, as the promotion is set to host their first official event this coming Saturday, March 22.

Yoel Romero is scheduled to take on Ras Hylton in the main event, with fellow UFC legend, Andrei Arlovski set to clash with Terrance Hodges in the co-main event.

The blockbuster event takes place from The Hangar at Regatta Harbour in Miami, Florida.
