‘Rocky’ recently provided an update on his health during the media day ahead of his Octagon return.
Leon Edwards is planning to remind everyone what he’s capable of in the main event of UFC London on March 22.
After losing his title at UFC 304, the former welterweight champion received some criticism from several fighters including Edwards’ next opponent Sean Brady.
He now has some doubters to address after having a difficult night against Belal Muhammad in his third title defense.
Following an image ahead of the fight, some fans questioned whether Edwards’ health would impact his ability to bounce back on Saturday night.

Leon Edwards dispels staph rumor by stating that he’s already beaten the infection
A recent photo of Leon Edwards training at his gym appeared to show a staph infection just underneath his right elbow.
Whilst fight fans are certainly used to seeing this in recent times especially, it can significantly impact a fighter in their preparations and their performance inside the Octagon.
The infection needs a course of antibiotics to clear it up and that can have several effects on the body which make it difficult for an athlete to perform at their best.
During his media day interview at the O2 in London, ‘Rocky’ was asked about the photos that people had highlighted on social media.
He confirmed that whilst there was some kind of infection, he doesn’t know that it was definitely staph and it has already been dealt with because it happened earlier on in the camp.
Edwards also stated that he didn’t feel any physical effect from it despite taking antibiotics so it had little impact on his road to fight night.
“I actually did have it, this was about 6 weeks ago. Took antibiotics for it, it’s gone. I had no effects cardio-wise, I was fine. I don’t even know if it was staph, it was like a bite or something but yeah, that was 6 weeks ago, nothing affected nothing, I’m good.”
Leon Edwards can put himself right back in the mix with a win on March 22
Despite his tough night at the office at UFC 304, Leon Edwards is still right at the top of the welterweight division.
Whilst there are huge stakes for both men in the main event, ‘Rocky’ beating Sean Brady will put him back into the title conversation even if Belal Muhammad does appear to have his next two opponents already lined up.
With Shavkat Rakhmonov waiting in the wings to face the winner of Muhammad vs Jack Della Maddalena in the main event of UFC 315, Edwards may need two wins to really solidify his status and get another shot at the title but an impressive performance against Brady would do a lot of the talking for him.
