March 29 is a huge golden ticket for the controversial combat sports star if he’s able to capitalize on this opportunity.
Dillon Danis is set to face KSI in the heated main event of Misfits Boxing 21 at the AO Arena in Manchester.
Whilst the former Bellator fighter received a lot of criticism following his return to competition in a boxing match with Logan Paul where he was disqualified, a win in his next outing would turn that around.
KSI believes that he will kill Danis’ upcoming GFL fight with Tony Ferguson and any other plans that could come about off the back of this fight.
With the support of Conor McGregor, Danis has the chance to largely change his perception by beating KSI but his former rival doesn’t have much confidence in that based on his track record.
Gordon Ryan says that Dillon Danis deserves props for staying relevant despite a lack of accomplishments
Dillon Danis takes credit for getting people talking about Jiu-Jitsu long before the sport received a boost in popularity over the past few years.
He initially made his name by being a skilled grappler where he brought eyeballs to the sport due to his outspoken personality which often saw him butt heads with another star in the sport, Gordon Ryan.
Though they did previously compete against each other in 2017 where Ryan got the win, there was talk of the two rivals meeting again for several years.
Many believe that Ryan is the greatest no-gi grappler of all time and whilst he has the credentials to back up this recognition, ‘The King’ doesn’t think that the same can be said for Danis.
He said in a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show that you have to give Danis props for keeping himself relevant despite his lack of accomplishments.
“Dillon is a guy that makes things happen. He manages to stay in the public eye not really having any credentials or skills of any kind. Like he’s never really won anything big in Jiu-Jitsu, like he won no-gi Pans, like he was decent at one point. In Jiu-Jitsu, there was always a point where he was competing with the best guys but he could never really beat the best guys. His record at black belt is 18-16.
“He’s a master of getting himself into big matches and then pulling out or just not, like he doesn’t do anything athletically and he keeps getting these big matches and being in the public eye so yeah, nothing against Dillon, he’s just not a real athlete.”

The next few months are crucial for Dillon Danis
There’s no denying that Dillon Danis has done a great job of maintaining his profile despite the fact that he hasn’t been regularly competing.
His disappointing performance against Logan Paul could’ve easily derailed that entirely but a combination of his upcoming fight with KSI and signing to the GFL has given him two more lifelines.
If he suffers losses in both fights, his reputation and ability to put himself in big spots might be past the point of recovery.
However, if Danis gets his hand raised in either fight, let alone both, he will easily be able to snowball that momentum into an even brighter spotlight.
