UFC Vegas 104 faces late changes as fight canceled alongside multiple weight misses

After a monumental UFC 313 event last Saturday, the promotion returns to the Apex in Vegas this weekend for UFC Vegas 104.

In the main event, middleweights, Roman Dolidze and Marvin Vettori clash for a second time as the Georgian grappler looks to get revenge for his 2023 loss to ‘The Italian Dream’.

Ahead of their rematch, Dolidze has revealed what he learnt most about Vettori, touching on the Italian’s toughness, stating that he wants to become the first to finish him.

Fortunately, ‘The Caucasian’ and the former middleweight title challenger successfully made weight, making the main event official.

Three fighters miss weight for UFC Vegas 104

Despite the main event fighters holding up to their end of the bargain, there were a few weight misses on the undercard, which led to some potential late changes.

In the co-main event, Chidi Njokuani is set to clash with Brazilian wild-man, Elizeu Zaleski. In his last outing, ‘Chidi Bang’ scored a decision win over Jared Gordon.

Njokuani was highlighted as a potential contender in the middleweight division after scoring an insane KO in his UFC debut, however, a few disappointing losses saw him move down to 170lbs.

Ahead of his third fight at welterweight, Njokuani came in heavy, weighing 172.25lbs. He will now forfeit a percentage of his purse.

Bantamweight prospect, Josias Musasa was scheduled to make his debut against Carlos Vera. ‘The KO Wizard’ initially missed weight at 136.5lbs but after a second attempt he successfully hit 136lbs.

Another debutant that missed weight, was Diyar Nurgozhay. Fans implored UFC boss, Dana White to cut him after he missed weight by 4.5lbs. Despite that, Nurgozhay remains on the card and will forfeit 25% of his purse to his opponent, Brendson Ribeiro.

UFC Vegas 104 loses a fight just a day before the event

On Thursday evening, the promotion announced that the scheduled lightweight fight between Evan Elder and Marquel Mederos is off due to an injury on the side of Mederos.

As a result, Elder has been rescheduled to take on Austin Hubbard on March 29 at the UFC’s Fight Night in Mexico City.

Mederos on the other hand is yet to be re-booked.
