‘Garbage decision’… Former UFC heavyweight protests Alex Pereira vs Magomed Ankalaev result

Brendan Schaub vented his frustrations on social media in the immediate aftermath of UFC 313.

The former UFC heavyweight watched on from home as Alex Pereira lost his light heavyweight title on Saturday night.

Magomed Ankalaev outpointed him over five rounds to earn a unanimous decision courtesy of 49–46, 48–47, 48–47 scorecards from the three judges who were cageside at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

However, not everyone agreed that the right man won after the biggest UFC card of the year so far.

Brendan Schaub slams UFC 313 judges

Soon after Ankalaev followed in the footsteps of his Dagestani compatriots Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev by winning UFC gold, Brendan Schaub insisted his 205lb reign was born out of judging incompetence.

The comedian and podcaster believes Pereira did enough to win at least three rounds at UFC 313.

“Garbage decision @AlexPereiraUFC clear as day won 3rds,” Schaub tweeted.

He added: “Enjoy that new champ”

Schaub wasn’t the only angry fan questioning the scorecards in the aftermath of Pereira vs Ankalaev.

A bunch of people took to social media, with some calling for the powers that be to ‘fire the judges’

Dana White thinks the right man won at UFC 313

UFC boss Dana White believes Ankalaev did enough over 25 minutes to dethrone the champion.

“I don’t know if I had the exact score in my head,” he said when asked for his thoughts on the UFC 313 main event during a post-fight press conference.

“I thought Ankalaev won the fight. I wasn’t like shocked when I heard the decision.”

As for what’s next for both men, the MMA mogul is ‘probably’ going to make Pereira vs Ankalaev 2.

Pereira has vowed to ‘make some adjustments’ and win back his light heavyweight belt in a rematch.

Only time will tell exactly when and where their eagerly anticipated redo will take place.
