UFC boss, Dana White has provided another key update on the potential heavyweight title unification fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall.
Fans continue to call for the heavyweight title unification fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall to be announced, with it being one of the biggest fights the UFC can make at the moment.
Following Jones successful title defense against Stipe Miocic last November, he hinted at a potential retirement, instead of unifying the title against interim champion, Aspinall.
Despite that, Dana White remained keen on attempting to negotiate that fight with ‘Bones’ and seemed 100% confident that the fight could be made, despite negotiations having seemingly stalled recently.

White reveals why there hasn’t been an official announcement of Jones vs Aspinall
Aspinall took to his YouTube channel recently to explain to the fans that if the fight doesn’t happen, it’s because of Jones’ part in negotiations.
However, White recently provided an update on Jones’ future in the UFC, stating that he believes the heavyweight champion will return in the summer.
And with that, at UFC 313 this Saturday after Magomed Ankalaev dethroned Alex Pereira, White provided a further update on the potential fight between Jones and Aspinall, explaining why it hasn’t been officially announced yet.
“Well, I think that, listen, Jon Jones definitely wants to fight just when and where is what we’re working on now. I’m very confident that fight happens (in the summer),” White revealed at the UFC 313 post-fight press conference.
The promotion are set to host their 13th annual International Fight Week this coming June with the monumental week headlined by UFC 317, with the UFC potentially targeting that date for the huge heavyweight fight.
Alex Pereira misses out on chance to fight Jones vs Aspinall winner
White has openly stated that he believes Jones vs Aspinall is one of the biggest, if not the biggest fight to make in the sport at the moment.
However, there was potentially another huge fight to be made for the winner of the unification bout, as Pereira continued to hint at a potential move up to heavyweight.
Ahead of his UFC 313 title defense, White revealed that Pereira could’ve fought the winner if he was able to get past Ankalaev but unfortunately, the Brazilian’s light heavyweight title reign came to an end.
If Pereira is able to reclaim his title in a rematch against Ankalaev, there is no doubt that he and White will reconsider his move up to heavyweight.
