Bizarre reason Justin Gaethje did not have the UFC logo on his gloves during fight with Rafael Fiziev

Justin Gaethje just produced a tremendous performance against Rafael Fiziev without the UFC logo on his gloves.

After suffering a horrifying KO defeat to Max Holloway in his last outing, many were concerned that ‘The Human Highlight Reel’ would have some damage going into this fight.

In addition, his preparation was ruined when Dan Hooker withdrew from the contest with an injury. But in a testament to his mindset, Gaethje called Daniel Cormier ‘Crazy’ for suggesting he shouldn’t compete, and went on to produce yet another sparkling display.

But fans couldn’t help but notice the massive absence of UFC branding on his gloves.

Jon Anik says the UFC logo rubbed off Justin Gaethje’s gloves in the locker room

As Justin Gaethje marched towards the octagon, the crowd inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, went berserk.

Not only was the warrior representing their country, but he’s also garnered massive popularity through his all-action wars of attrition.

However, as soon as he set foot in the cage, there was clearly something missing.

Jon Anik explained: “I know my UFC broadcast partners were wondering why that UFC logo was not on the gloves of Justin Gaetheje. It rubbed off during warm-ups.

“Hunter Campbell came over and told me that he chose to keep these gloves on. I guess they felt good.

“Those are the exact same gloves that Rafael Fiziev is wearing, but the UFC logo is no more.”

Perplexed by the situation, Joe Rogan exclaimed: “How weird.”

Justin Gaethje defeats Rafael Fiziev

As is always the case with Gaethje, the fight delivered, with the former interim champion engaging in a thrilling back-and-forth with his rival.

The Azerbaijani looked to wrestle early, scoring two takedowns, before his opponent burst into life in the second.

Gaethje connected with a thunderous shot to send Fiziev flying towards the canvas.

With the scores even, the Arizonan knew he needed a decisive last segment, which he produced to win 29-28 on all three cards.
