‘AstroBoy’ has shown himself to be a great personality on social media who doesn’t take himself too seriously.
After being fast-tracked into a UFC title fight, fans are still just getting to know Steve Erceg who now has five Octagon appearances under his belt.
The Aussie recorded three impressive wins when arriving in the promotion but Erceg was unable to beat Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 301 last year.
At UFC 305 in August, he suffered the first knockout loss of his career after Kai Kara-France stopped Erceg with a huge right-hand in the opening round.
His 2025 return was previously scheduled for March 1 but with Asu Almabayev swapping in to face Manel Kape last Saturday, the former title challenger will now make the walk later this month against Brandon Moreno.

Steve Erceg celebrates social media milestone by catching his mother in an armbar
Though he has a huge opportunity on his hands to return to the win column against a former flyweight champion when he heads to Mexico City on March 29, Steve Erceg has some other business to attend to.
‘AstroBoy’ was still somewhat unknown when he received the call to face Alexandre Pantoja in Brazil with the champion in desperate need of new and exciting challenges.
Erceg has now settled into his spot on the roster and his entertaining social media antics are clearly paying off for his profile.
The 29-year-old recently announced on Instagram that he hit the big 100k milestone and his way of celebrating was rather unique.
Instead of sending out a video to the fans or blowing up some balloons, Erceg caught his mother in an armbar submission as she questioned, “Why are you doing this?”
“Thanks for all the follows, and for helping me get to 100k and to celebrate, I submitted my mother,” Wrote Erceg in the caption of the post.
“Nobody is safe,” Said one fan in the comments whilst another said that it might be time to give the #8-ranked contender a second shot at the belt. “I’ve seen enough, give him Pantoja again”.
Steve Erceg faces a huge test on March 29
You won’t be able to tell from Steve Erceg’s usual carefree attitude on fight week but March 29 is a massive moment for his UFC career.
After finding himself in a huge opportunity at UFC 301 that had come much sooner than anyone expected, the title challenger put in a very commendable performance despite coming up short against Alexandre Pantoja.
His knockout loss to Kai Kara-France was a big setback but beating Brandon Moreno in Mexico City would put him right back into title contention.
The only issue with that is Moreno’s recent win over Amir Albazi where the former champ looked back to his very best.
