‘Gamebred’ has been called out over a beef between him and another one of the biggest personalities in MMA.
Jorge Masvidal was planning to make his Octagon return in April with the promotion returning to Miami, Florida two years after he announced his retirement.
With UFC 314 on April 12 already taking shape, the inaugural BMF titleholder is nowhere to be seen but that hasn’t stopped others from calling him out.
He’s been mentioned alongside several boxing matches with Masvidal’s name being used by the likes of KSI in recent times.
Masvidal has also suggested a career move into politics in recent weeks with no further updates on when he will compete in MMA once again.

Oban Elliott calls out Jorge Masvidal over Chael Sonnen beef
One of the biggest feuds in MMA over the past year or so has been between Jorge Masvidal and Chael Sonnen.
Whilst ‘The Bad Guy’ has spoken about the possibility of competing against ‘Gamebred’, it seems unlikely that the 47-year-old will make that jump even if he did share the ring with Anderson Silva last year.
What Sonnen has done instead is nominate an active UFC fighter as his champion with Welsh welterweight Oban Elliott repeatedly calling for a fight with Masvidal on social media.
Elliott has regularly cited Sonnen as one of his biggest inspirations and heroes, leading to some touching moments between them now that the Welshman is in the UFC.
‘The Welsh Gangster’ made his Octagon debut in February last year and went on to win three consecutive fights, earning a performance bonus at UFC 309 last November for his knockout over Bassil Hafez at Madison Square Garden.
The 27-year-old recent appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show where he once again spoke about the prospect of fighting Masvidal, or another sizeable name like Vicente Luque.
Following the response to the names that Elliott put forward, the rising contender at 170-pounds posted this message to anyone that was accusing him of looking too many steps ahead, defending his callouts.
“Guys – CHAEL put me to work on Masvidal. Why the f— wouldn’t I wanna fight Masvidal lol? Easy work. The story is there Luque would be a great fight. For us both. The best fight the best in the UFC! Let’s go!”

Who could Jorge Masvidal fight on his return?
Following four consecutive losses, Jorge Masvidal walked away from the UFC in 2023 claiming that if he couldn’t compete at the top of the sport, it was time for him to make his exit.
With that in mind, it doesn’t make sense to throw the veteran back in at the deep end but there are still some fun fights for him if he does make his return.
Vicente Luque did call Masvidal out following his impressive performance against Themba Gorimbo at UFC 310 and that seems to make a lot of sense.
A rematch with Stephen Thompson over five rounds would be another enticing matchup though it wouldn’t be unlike the UFC to match Masvidal up with a rising star like Carlos Prates to put him in the spotlight.
