Alex Pereira faces intense weight cut for UFC 313 as he steps on scales for first time during fight week

Alex Pereira has kicked off fight week by revealing how much weight he has to cut for UFC 313.

The light heavyweight champion will defend his belt against Magomed Ankalaev at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 8.

Just shy of a month ago, ‘Poatan’ shocked fans by stepping on the scale to reveal his weight as 235lbs

Since then, Alex Pereira has trimmed down a little bit, but not as much as you’d expect for someone who has to be no more than 205lbs on Friday.

Alex Pereira set for big weight cut

On Sunday, Pereira and his team took a private jet to the fight capital of the world.

After touching down in Sin City, the Brazilian fan favorite stepped on a scale to check his weight.

Wearing only underpants and socks, it showed he currently weighs 103.2kg, which is 227.5lbs.

That means Pereira must lose 22.5lbs in the next five days or risk losing his UFC belt on the scale.

Thankfully, that shouldn’t be an issue as Pereira has never missed weight during his iconic UFC career.

Even when he fought at middleweight, which has a 185lb limit, the KO artist always hit his mark.

Alex Pereira proposes $200,000 UFC 313 bet

Pereira has attempted to up the stakes ahead of his grudge match with Ankalaev this weekend.

The 37-year-old wants to make a big bet on the fight, with the winnings going to people in need.

“Since you are so confident you will win, $200,000 to the winner’s charity of choice.,” Pereira tweeted.

“Win or lose this will help those in need. It’s in your hands @AliAbdelaziz00 @AnkalaevM.”

“SalamuAlaykum, we will answer tomorrow, Ramadan Mubarak,” Ankalaev indirectly replied.

Pre-fight bets are often made, but it’s very rare that the loser actually ends up paying their debt.

This past weekend, Gervonta Davis shook hands with Lamont Roach on a $250,00 pre-fight bet.

‘Tank’ promised to KO opponent before their fight was called a majority draw after 12 rounds of action.

UFC legend Henry Cejudo implored Roach to protest the dodgy decision, but there’s been next to no talk of him cashing in his bet.

Hopefully, the Pereira vs Ankalaev loser will cough up the dough since it’s promised to a good cause.
