Caio Borralho beats UFC star in grappling match to continue win streak that made him a middleweight contender

Caio Borralho produced an impressive performance, as he picked up a clean sweep victory over a fellow UFC star in a grappling match.

Last night, at Karate Combat 53, the Brazilian made an enormous impression in front of a raucous crowd in Denver, Colorado, USA.

Showcasing his tremendous skills, Borralho produced a similar showing to that of what he’s been putting together in the UFC.

Now, the warrior will likely set his sights on moving closer to a title shot in the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion.

Caio Borralho defeats Brendan Allen at Karate Combat 53

In a treat for the spectators, Caio Borralho put on a clinic against fellow top-ten UFC middleweight Brendan Allen.

The American entered the contest with a point to prove, having suffered a defeat just six days earlier against Anthony Hernandez at UFC Seattle.

Prior to the bout, Borralho got the audience on side, launching Fighting Nerds T-shirts into the crowd, but while they enjoyed his gifts, it was his grappling skills that really caught their attention.

The 32-year-old opted to use a collar tie, before Allen made an unsuccessful takedown attempt, which resulted in his foe locking in a guillotine.

To his credit, ‘All In’ managed to escape, and in a testament to his confidence, shot a second single. However, Borralho read the move like a book, easily evading, before getting into full mount and attempting a kimura, which Allen successfully survived for the rest of the round.

At the start of the second segment, Borralho got back to work, quickly putting Allen on his back and securing full mount. However, he couldn’t maintain the position, with the 29-year-old fighting him off.

Not giving in, Borralho secured full mount again, before taking his opponent’s back.

Allen escaped and actually managed to land a takedown of his own. Alas, Borralho reversed the position, which raised a smile on the face of both competitors, before the Sao Paulo brawler jumped on the back for a final time, to bring an end to proceedings.

Robelis Despaigne scores savage KO in eight seconds at Karate Combat 53

Borralho wasn’t the only fighter to produce an impressive performance at Karate Combat 53, with Robelis Despaigne also dazzling the fans.

Since leaving the UFC, the Cuban has looked nothing short of sensational.

In his previous two outings, the powerhouse closed the show in just four and twelve seconds, respectively.

This time, Despainge landed a thunderous KO after only eight seconds.
