Demetrious Johnson choked out by combat sports legend, as former UFC champion’s rival gets his ‘revenge’ for submission defeat

Demetrious Johnson just had to tap out, as he taught one of his greatest rivals how to lock in the perfect rear-naked choke.

During his phenomenal career, ‘Mighty Mouse’ showcased not just tremendous athleticism but formidable fight IQ, which he utilized to become the best flyweight on the planet.

Johnson dominated in the UFC, before making the switch to ONE Championship, where he met one of the best combat sports athletes of all time.

With a willingness to push himself to the limit, the MMA star agreed to face the man in question inside the cage.

Rodtang chokes out Demetrious Johnson

At ONE X, on March 26, 2022, inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, Demetrious Johnson and Rodtang Jitmuangnon went head-to-head in a spectacular clash in which they did a round of Muay Thai before switching to MMA in the second segment.

In an enthralling opener, the Thai connected with powerful shots, with the mixed martial artist having to bite down on his gumshield, before ending the fight with a rear-naked choke, as soon as the contest entered his realm.

Now, the pair have joined forces in an interesting training video, uploaded to Johnson’s YouTube channel.

During the entertaining piece of content, Rodtang taught Johnson all he needs to know about ‘The art of eight limbs’.

Of course, the Muay Thai superstar couldn’t resist attempting a few sweeps.

But then, he decided to let Johnson become the teacher, as he learnt the very same move that his former opponent used to beat him almost three years ago.

Showcasing his coaching prowess, the American let his old foe know exactly where he needed to put his hands, before telling him to ‘squeeze’.

Rodtang unsurprisingly obliged, forcing the ex-UFC King, to tap. He then proceeded to ask his translator to inform Johnson: “I’ve got my revenge.”

Jonathan Haggerty wants to fight former UFC champion in mixed rules fight

After watching Johnson vs Rodtang battle it out, Jonathan Haggerty feels inspired to attempt something similar himself.

The Brit, who just defended his kickboxing championship at ONE 171, and has previously held world titles in Muay Thai, has a background in MMA, with his father, who fought himself, teaching him the ropes.

With that in mind, ‘The General’ believes he could make an impact in the sport.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, Haggerty named the UFC icon he wants to take on in a mixed-rules fight.
