‘Didn’t defeat me’ … Henry Cejudo demands Dana White make rematch after losing eyesight in controversial stoppage

UFC Seattle was fun while it lasted, with eight finishes on the 12-fight card. However, the main event between Henry Cejudo and Song Yadong was marred by a controversial finish.

Cejudo lost his eyesight after Song Yadong eye poked him in the third round. ‘Triple-C’ took a full five-minute break before fighting on to the fourth round. Between rounds, Cejudo remarked he couldn’t see, and Jason Herzog stopped the contest in the fourth round to go to a technical decision.

‘The Kung Fu Kid’ won the decision to an uproar of boos from the UFC Seattle crowd. Cejudo later revealed his injuries, including diplopia and a corneal abrasion. UFC CEO Dana White has no desire to see a rematch, but Cejudo isn’t letting him off the hook.

‘Sign the damn contract! … Henry Cejudo calls out Dana White and Song Yadong for rematch

At the UFC Seattle post-fight press conference, White remarked, “I just don’t want to see it again.” But Cejudo isn’t content with the loss, hounding his boss on X.

“Run it back [Dana White]!!!” Cejudo wrote. “[Song Yadong], you told me you wanted a rematch. Your face at the end says it all. You know you didn’t defeat me. Learn how to close your fists and sign the damn contract!”

The technical decision loss is incredibly sore for Cejudo, who fights on a three-fight losing streak. There also weren’t any repercussions for Yadong causing the fouls. A deducted point would have turned the result into a majority technical draw since two judges had Cejudo winning one of the first three rounds.

However, a draw would have likely drawn more criticism, seeing as most of the fight had played out as planned, regardless of the accidental foul.

Song Yadong responds to Henry Cejudo’s rematch demands

Yadong replied to Cejudo’s message, agreeing with a rematch in a backhanded manner.

“Bro, of course,” Yadong wrote. “I’m more than happy to have my rematch with you. The first three rounds were just my warm-up. My plan was to turn it up in the fourth round and KO you – You know that.

“Tell the UFC to set it up; I’m ready to sign the contract any time.”

Given Dana White’s comments, it’s unlikely we’ll see the rematch, but with the fighters’ willingness, it’s not entirely out of the question.
