‘This is all I got’ … 9-0 prospect sends UFC a message on his knees

Sometimes, the only way to get a big break is to call your shots, which is precisely what one undefeated LFA prospect did last night by calling out the UFC

A new trend has started, as fighters beg the UFC for a chance at the promotion rather than earning their way through the regional circuit. This was started by Doroshbo Nabotov calling on Dana White to sign him to the UFC at the UFC 308 press conference in 2024, to mixed success.

White allowed Nabotov to earn his place by fighting at a regional event where White would be in attendance for his ‘Lookin’ for a Fight’ series. Unfortunately, Nabotov lost his feature fight, but this hasn’t stopped more prospects from calling on the UFC to shine the light their way.

‘You won’t regret it’ … Undefeated prospect Phumi Nkuta calls on UFC brass to give him a shot

After scoring a unanimous decision victory at LFA 202 on February 22, 9-0 flyweight prospect Phumi Nkuta went all-out on his post-fight speech. ‘Turbo’ took a knee and called upon Mick Maynard, Hunter Campbell, and other UFC brass to notice him and give him a shot at the promotion.

“You wanna talk about dreams? This is all I got. This sport is all I got,” Nkuta admitted. “This is all I wanna do, and I’m telling you, man. Whether it’s Mick Maynard, Sean Shelby, Hunter [Campbell] – UFC Brass, I’ll do it like GSP,” Nkuti takes a knee.

“I’ll get on my knees — please! Give me a shot at the UFC and I’ll tell you a thousand percent you won’t regret it.”

Nkuta’s eagerness will likely secure him a place in Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS). Hopefully, he will earn a contract outright and not have to go through the DWCS gauntlet, but unfortunately, that is the UFC’s typical talent-scouting process these days.

Who is Phumi Nkuta?

New Jersey-born Nkuta is a 29-year-old flyweight fighting out of Ray Longo’s Longo MMA. Factoring in his amateur career, Nkuta is on an impressive 14-fight winning streak. He has four finishes in his nine professional victories: two knockouts and two submissions.

Per Tapology, Nkuta is the No. 1 ranked pound-for-pound fighter from New Jersey and the No. 17-ranked professional flyweight from North America.
