The UFC welterweight champion recently took the opportunity to fire a shot at a former foe following a run of big fight announcements.
Belal Muhammad regularly throws a few verbal jabs at anyone on the roster that catches his eye, especially when it comes to the last man that he faced inside the Octagon.
Muhammad dethroned Leon Edwards at UFC 304 last July in Manchester with a dominant performance following a heated build-up.
With the history between the two men dating back to their first encounter in 2021, their feud remains far from finished after they shared the cage for a second time with Edwards pursuing a rematch.
Dana White announced new fights and opponents for both men via an Instagram Live which prompted the 170-pound champion to make a quick remark about ‘Rocky’.

Belal Muhammad jokes that he took Leon Edwards’ belt and opponent following UFC 315 news
In the main event of UFC 315 on May 10 in Canada, Belal Muhammad will defend his welterweight title for the first time against Jack Della Maddalena.
The #4-ranked contender was originally set to face Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC London on March 22 where an eighth consecutive win in the UFC would’ve secured him a title shot.
However, with Shavkat Rakhmonov unable to fight on May 10 due to an injury, Della Maddalena received the call to face Muhammad.
Dana White also announced that Edwards will remain on the London card in a main event bout with the #5-ranked Sean Brady.
Muhammad responded to the news in a post on social media where he referenced how Della Maddalena had been pulled from the Edwards fight in order to face him for the title.
The frequent trash talker drew a connection between the recent fight news and what went down at UFC 304 at the Co-op Live Arena.
“Dang I stole Leon’s belt and his opponent”
Belal Muhammad opens as the favorite over Jack Della Maddalena
A lot of fight fans believe that the biggest threat to Belal Muhammad’s welterweight title reign is the undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov.
Despite the fact that he defeated Ian Machado Garry at UFC 310 after previously being scheduled to face the champion, ‘Nomad’ fought through an injury which will seemingly keep him out of action for a while longer.
Though many see that matchup as more interesting following Rakhmonov’s latest performance, a lot of people would still see the challenger as the favorite against the champion but that isn’t the case in the fight that we now have for UFC 315.
Muhammad has opened at around a -200 favorite for his defense against Jack Della Maddalena whose best win came over former title challenger Gilbert Burns at UFC 299 last March.
