‘The Highlight’ is one of the baddest men on the planet but it’s not just his performances than won the hearts of the fans.
Justin Gaethje is one of the most entertaining fighters to have ever stepped foot inside the Octagon and you always know what you’re going to get with him.
Fighters, including his next opponent Dan Hooker, know to prepare for a war when it’s the former BMF and interim lightweight champion that they’re matched up with.
Gaethje has a reputation for violence once the Octagon door closes but he’s also shown fight fans that when he’s not in the cage, he’s the complete opposite.
We’ve seen glimpses of his home life via the UFC’s programming where one clip in particular helped endear the 155-pound contender with fans dreading the day that Gaethje calls time on his career after all of his incredible fights.

Fans react to Justin Gaethje giving his dog a piggy back around the block
On what is nearly the fifth anniversary of this specific clip, ESPN MMA reposted a video of Justin Gaethje that has lived in the minds of the fans ever since it was first released.
The 13-fight UFC veteran is preparing to walk his dog but despite already having the lead and collar good to go, he doesn’t intend on using it.
Rather than the dog doing any actual walking, it’s Gaethje who is doing all of the (literal) heavy lifting as the exercise appears to be more beneficial for him.
‘The Highlight’ proceeds to scoop up his dog and place him on his shoulders in order to give his best friend a piggy back around the block to get some fresh air.
Fans reacted to the throwback video via social media with one user questioning, “How can people not like this man?”
“This is sooo wholesome” Responded another whilst several of the comments remarked how quickly time has gone by since the video was first put out there into the MMA world.
What’s next for Justin Gaethje?
Away from, as one fan said, “letting his dog take him out for a walk”, Justin Gaethje is preparing to make his return to the Octagon in just a few weeks time.
‘The Highlight’ is always involved in the kinds of matchups that immediately get fans excited at the sheer thought of them and his upcoming bout at UFC 313 is certainly another one in that category.
On March 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Gaethje will face the #6-ranked Dan Hooker in a fight that promises to be carnage for as long as it lasts.
With Hooker already outlining his expectations, this promises to be yet another instant classic from both men who have somehow never fought before.
