UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier reacted to a bizarre clip of Jon Jones that made the rounds on social media.
UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former titleholder Daniel Cormier will likely never fully see eye-to-eye after their famous rivalry in the Octagon. Years removed from their UFC 214 clash, tensions remain steady between Cormier and Jones, despite Cormier leaving MMA in 2020.
As Jones is in active negotiations with the UFC for his potential return to the cage, he’s enjoying some quality time with his family and friends. Jones most recently defended the heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November following a long hiatus.
Fans were surprised when Jones went live on Instagram in the early morning hours last week.
“You get p—ed off, disappointed. And as a Dad, you just want to kill them,” Jones said in the below video.
Fans grew increasingly concerned about Jones after the Instagram Live session was re-shared on several prominent platforms. In a since-deleted tweet, Jones apologized for the bizarre outburst.
“Sorry, was just getting crazy. I’m done over it,” Jones posted on X.

Daniel Cormier weighed in on bizarre Jon Jones stream that had fans concerned
During a recent episode of Funky and the Champ, Cormier made a rare defense of Jones after the clip went viral online.
“I don’t like being supportive [of Jon Jones],” Cormier said of Jones. “Jon Jones was walking down the street, saying some crazy stuff about his kid…if he was on vacation, haven’t we all been there? Maybe not that extreme, but our kids drive us crazy. And you know what the worst part is? When you go back to that hotel room, you’re the bad guy! Everyone’s going to make it like you’re the bad guy for being upset…
“I don’t want to defend him, but come on…haven’t we all been there?”
After fans were initially concerned about Jones’ mental state as he remains in talks with UFC brass, Cormier and others believe the clip was overblown online. As of this writing, it remains uncertain what or who Jones was referring to in the clip.
This isn’t the first time Cormier has taken a different approach to his long-standing feud with Jones. Cormier admitted Jones was the hardest hitter he faced in his Hall of Fame career after their two legendary bouts.
Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall fight negotiations remain in the works
Jones is in talks to face Tom Aspinall in a heavyweight title unification bout later this year. But the fight remains uncertain, especially after Jones expressed interest in facing Alex Pereira next instead of Aspinall.
Aspinall earned the interim heavyweight title by knocking out Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295. Jones was supposed to headline the card against Miocic before withdrawing due to injury.
Aspinall has since defended the interim belt against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304, and is now holding out for a shot at the lineal championship. If UFC CEO Dana White and Jones don’t make progress soon, Jones could potentially be stripped of the title.
Jones vs. Aspinall is without a doubt the biggest fight the UFC can make in 2025. But as talks continue, speculation continues to swirl regarding the future of the heavyweight title picture.
