Tom Aspinall grapples with World’s Strongest Man, Tom Stoltman
While Tom Aspinall has proved himself to be one of the most terrifying competitors in mixed martial arts, frequently rendering his opponents unconscious with his thunderous power, he’s much more than a mere puncher.
With a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, the athlete is an expert in the grappling department. And he showcased his expertise during a session with Tom Stoltman.
While standing at 6ft8 and weighing-in at a whopping 396 pounds, the 3x world champion hadn’t ever trained in MMA before, leaving him a little apprehensive.
However, it didn’t take long for Aspinall to get him on the right track.
After drilling takedowns, the UFC interim heavyweight champion set the Scotsman the challenge of holding him down for ten seconds.
However, within five, he was up on his feet and running away, shouting: “I’m out of here, I’m getting out of here,” before jokingly attempting to climb out of the cage.
Stunned, Stoltman exclaimed: “That’s fast for a big guy.”
Attempting to help the giant improve, the MMA star told him: “Less squeeze, more feeling with your hip and chest where I’m going.”
The second time around, Aspinall couldn’t move Stoltman, who he later congratulated for his rapid improvement.
The weightlifter was then asked where rolling with the MMA icon ranked among his strongman achievements, to which he chuckled: “Number one.”
