‘Cursed event’ … MMA fans react as UFC Seattle suffers 7th fight cancellation

UFC Seattle, featuring the return of former double-champion Henry Cejudo, is being branded as a ‘cursed’ event by MMA fans following a slew of fight cancellations.

The February 22 event makes the second live-crowd Fight Night of the year. In the marquee spot, Cejudo takes on perennial bantamweight contender Song Yadong, and the co-main features the exciting return of streaking middleweight prospect Anthony Hernandez as he takes on Brendan Allen.

At one point, the card offered an array of exciting fighters, including Dominick Cruz, Edson Barboza, Steve Garcia, and Curtis Blaydes, but they’ve all pulled out for one reason or another. Cruz retired after injuries forced his withdrawal, and Blaydes’ fight with Rizvan Kuniev was moved to UFC 313.

Now, a seventh fight has been canceled, as welterweight hopeful Adam Fugitt has announced his withdrawal in an Instagram story. Fugitt was already rescheduled to fight Billy Ray Goff after his original opponent, Islam Dulatov, withdrew.
