‘Gamebred’ has always prided himself as a man of the people and now he wants to give back.
For the vast majority of Jorge Masvidal’s life, he has been known for one thing and that has brought him a lot of success and fame over the years.
The 52-fight veteran made his MMA debut all the way back in 2003 and with 22 UFC fights under his belt, there isn’t much that he hasn’t done in the sport.
Masvidal’s MMA record doesn’t even tell the full story of his love affair with combat sports having initially made his name in backyard street fight videos as well as stepping into the boxing world to fight Nate Diaz last year.
The inaugural BMF champion may have an Octagon return in his sights but there’s another new path that he wishes to explore in the near future now this his career is winding down.

Jorge Masvidal announces intentions to run for Florida State Senate
Jorge Masvidal announced his retirement from MMA back at UFC 287 where he suffered a loss to Gilbert Burns in his home of Miami, Florida.
Though there has been a lot of talk about him making a UFC comeback two years later with UFC 314 in April already booked in for Miami, it looks like ‘Gamebred’ is also pursuing new ways to keep himself busy.
Masvidal is certainly no stranger to the political world and voicing his opinions.
The former UFC star recently posted on X to state his intent in politics and how he hopes to run for a place in the Florida State Senate so that he can look to use his voice to make a positive change.
In particular, Masvidal references how passionate he is about stomping out the “child sex trafficking” and how the current handling of the situation is far from sufficient.
“Many friends have come forward in the last 48 hours to urge me to run for Mayor of Hialeah since that office is being vacated by the current Mayor.
“I have decided to remain focused on the possibility of running for the Florida State Senate because I believe I can make a greater impact in the fight against child sex trafficking, which is rampant in Miami-Dade County.
“The career politicians have done nothing to stop this horrific abuse of children. I am a fighter, and I am ready to fight the child sex traffickers and put them out of business.
“If a vacancy in the State Senate occurs as expected, I am very likely to make the race. In the meantime, I will reflect and pray about where I can make the greatest difference for the people of our community.

Jorge Masvidal turns his attention for now
As Jorge Masvidal stated at the end of his post, whilst he waits for this opportunity to arise, he will find other ways to occupy his time.
Nothing has been confirmed as of yet but having ‘Gamebred’ step back inside the Octagon at the Kaseya Center in Miami would make a lot of sense if he is going to compete in MMA once again.
Though potential matchups haven’t been largely debated or spoken about, Welsh fighter Oban Elliott has continuously called out Masvidal on behalf of his idol, Chael Sonnen.
Another name that has been calling to face the 40-year-old is his former opponent Darren Till who replied to Masvidal’s post in hopes of booking a rematch inside a boxing ring.
