What Conor McGregor told Dana White right after finding out Jose Aldo fight was cancelled… ‘I knew you’d say that’

Conor McGregor didn’t shock Dana White one bit with his immediate reaction to discovering Jose Aldo was out of their scheduled fight at UFC 189.

After a thrilling build-up, the pair were just two weeks away from settling their differences, when the Brazilian suffered an injury that prevented him from competing on that date.

However, while many would’ve taken the news very hard, the Irishman didn’t.

And the President of the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization didn’t expect anything less.

Conor McGregor instantly suggested the idea of still fighting after Jose Aldo Pulled out

At the peak of his powers, Conor McGregor was a truly special individual, with the Dubliner radiating confidence.

In the two-weight world champion’s movie, Notorious, Dana White came to visit him in Las Vegas to inform him that, with just over a fortnight until the biggest fight of his life, Jose Aldo had been forced to pull out.

The entrepreneur told the mixed martial artist: “This is what you call a rude awakening; he broke his f—— rib.”

Maintaining a smile, McGregor replied: “So, what happens now?”

White explained: “We have a date September 5, here in Vegas, which gives you another seven weeks, and you can fight Aldo.”

While keen to rearrange his title clash with the legendary featherweight, showcasing his fighting heart, the warrior suggested: “The Aldo fight, that’s September — whether I’m going to take another one is the question.”

The American responded: “I knew that you would say that.”

Conor McGregor beat Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo

While in 2025, the public is telling Conor McGregor to call it a day, in his prime, there was nothing stopping him.

The striker did indeed take another fight, overcoming a brutal storm from Chad Mendes, before ultimately coming out on top to claim the interim 145-pound strap.

Then, at UFC 194, the icon did the unthinkable, rendering Jose Aldo unconscious in just 13 seconds to write his name into the MMA history books forever.
