‘No technique’… Jiri Prochazka sends strange congratulatory message to Dricus du Plessis after UFC 312

Dricus Du Plessis has silenced all doubters by winning his rematch with Sean Strickland at UFC 312. As a result, he’s received some seemingly backhanded praise from former light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka.

‘Stillknocks’ made it 2-0 against ‘Tarzan’ in a lopsided affair in Sydney, Australia. Fan sentiment for the contest was relatively low, with many remarking that Strickland’s lack of adjustment from the first fight at UFC 297 was underwhelming. As for Du Plessis, he rearranged Strickland’s nose in the fourth round and beat his foe pillar to post for the entire fight, so it wasn’t for lack of trying.

Whether Strickland was having an off day or Du Plessis was levels above, some strange praise has still been drawn from fan-favorite light heavyweight Jiri Prochazka.

Jiri Prochazka sends congratulations to Dricus Du Plessis while critiquing his fighting style

Taking to X after the fight, Prochazka heaped praise on Du Plessis on the performance, but not before dropping a casual critique of his style.

“Congratulations Dricus Du Plessis,” Prochazka wrote. “No technique, no rhythm but 200 percent activity and pressure, especially like a champion, that was something inspirational.”

Perhaps Prochazka means well since ‘BJP’ has crafted a unique fighting style that works to eradicate all telegraphing movements. Prochazka uses various strange training methods to achieve a fighting style where he enters a flow state, telegraphing nothing and fighting off-rhythm.

Could Jiri Prochazka fight at UFC middleweight

Prochazka vs. Du Plessis could happen in the future, with Prochazka registering his interest in moving down to middleweight. The ‘Czech Samurai’ has been a perennial light heavyweight but fought as high as a heavyweight during his 12-fight stint in RIZIN. In the leadup to UFC 311, Prochazka accidentally cut too much weight in the sauna, which leads fans to believe he could cut 185 easily.
