Brendan Schaub took great issue with Joe Rogan when he misheard something he said about Zhang Weili.
The former UFC heavyweight was one of four on Rogan’s Fight Companion for UFC 312, as they watched Zhang reclaim her gold in the co-main event against Tatiana Suarez. They were joined by former welterweight champion Matt Serra and comedian Bryan Callen for the fights.
Rogan is famously the voice of UFC pay-per-view events, but doesn’t travel internationally for any shows. Instead, he live streams he and his friends’ reactions to the fights on his YouTube channel for a massive viewership.

Brendan Schaub claims he would beat up Weili Zhang after mishearing Joe Rogan
The key factor on Joe Rogan Experience Fight Companion episodes is the banter between the four men on the broadcast. While Rogan is a renowned commentator, he leaves his professionalism at the door as he enjoys the fights with his friends, who are generally comedians or fighters.
In the case of Brendan Schaub, the heavyweight is actually both. He was once a serious contender in the division, but opted to hang up his gloves in 2015 after a series of knockout losses and the introduction of the UFC’s Reebok deal which impacted sponsors, and has since taken up a career in comedy.
At one point during their watching of the UFC 312 co-main event between Zhang Weili and Tatiana Suarez, Rogan joked about Bryan Callen having relations with the champion. “Bryan if she wanted to have s– with you, you’d be very uncomfortable,” he joked. “She’d kill you.”
Callen then replied by noting that “she might be my type,” but Schaub appeared to think that the diss was aimed at him. “Guys,” he began. “I’m a fan of her too but I would beat the s— out of her, dude.”
When Rogan noted that as a 280lb former UFC heavyweight that he would obviously beat Zhang in combat, he replied “Yeah but you just said I’d be scared of her”. Rogan then reiterated that he was talking about Callen, and branded Schaub a “gorilla”.
Weili Zhang comfortably defeats Tatiana Suarez to retain belt at UFC 312
The co-main event of UFC 312 was a brutal one, with champion Zhang Weili showing the levels between her and even the top contenders in her strawweight division. Tatiana Suarez was undefeated heading into last night’s bout, but aside from an early takedown never looked to worry her rival for even a second.

Suarez landed another takedown early in the second stanza, but she was reversed and ended up in mount it signalled the end of the fight as much of a contest. Zhang postured up and unloaded with nasty ground strikes before threatening with her own choke attempt in a dominant round.
Zhang even landed a takedown of her own during a completely one-sided beating. She eventually cruised to victory over five rounds, with the judges confirming her the winner by unanimous decision and confirming Suarez’s first loss as a professional.
