Shara ‘Bullet’ Magomedov details health condition that left him fighting at 30% against Michael ‘Venom’ Page

Shara Magomedov has revealed all about the health issue that hampered him at UFC Saudi Arabia.

‘Bullet’ struggled to land any meaningful shots as he lost against Michael ‘Venom’ Page last weekend.

In a post-fight statement, the one-eyed Russian blamed his first career defeat on a ‘nightmarish health condition‘ – but he didn’t immediately divulge the nature of the ailment that had hampered him in his biggest fight to date.

Shara Magomedov‘s now opened up about the issue that he believes led to the first loss of his career.

Shara Magomedov highlights health condition

The morning after dropping to 15-1 as a pro-MMA fighter, Magomedov spoke with Ushatayka.

During the interview, the 30-year-old named the ‘nightmarish’ health condition that impacted him so badly during his fight with Page.

“I wasn’t my true self in the Octagon. Unfortunately, there was just 30 percent of me in there,” Magomedov said.

“It was the worst camp in my entire professional MMA career. I’ve never felt that sick in the cage. My legs were gone, my arms felt weak, and I’ve got a lot of health issues I don’t want to reveal. It was a whole bunch of problems that affected my performance. My mind was there, but my body was off.

“I’ve got dysbacteriosis and parasitosis in my intestine, and I’ve got problems with my bile flow. I hoped to fix this issue, at least before the fight, but it’s still there.

“That’s why I could not keep the proper pace. I was feeling sick after throwing just a few punches, so I needed a break. After every couple of punches, just moving on my feet for a minute, I was even afraid that I could throw up in the fight. When I was going back to my corner after the first round, I felt like I was about to throw up.

“All of that bile stuck up here didn’t let me work. It’s still there even now. My legs were gone.”

Michael ‘Venom’ Page responds to opponent’s excuses

Magomedov has been told ‘keep it to yourself’ by Page in the aftermath of their fight.

The 37-year-old was somewhat critical of the way that his opponent had responded to the loss by saying that he was compromised going into the bout, rather than keeping this information to himself.

Page said: “For me, if I was to give [Shara Bullet] any advice moving forward… If you accept the fight knowing that you have had [an injury] prior to the fight, then the result is the result. If you win, you can say what you want.

“If you lose, you know, just keep it to yourself. He could be completely factual, but it just comes across wrong, comes across as an excuse… That would be my only advice for him.”
