From car-fighting to tag-team fighting, the gimmicks in combat sports are endless. But sometimes, the most simple idea is the most effective.
We’ve seen team-based MMA in the form of team fights or father-and-son matchups, but it’s rare to see a sanctioned free-for-all featuring fighters from varying weight classes and no time limit.
That’s precisely what Dogfight Wild Tournament (DWT) hosted on January 31, featuring ten MMA fighters from all different backgrounds, fighting until only one man was left. MMA fans loved it.

“This is insane,” One user commented.
“We need more of this, much more of this,” Another wrote.
“This is so barbaric,” Another user commented. “Pure unadulterated chaos, and I absolutely love it. Want to see more.”
“That was f****** awesome,” Another said.
One user called for UFC CEO Dana White to join the fad, “This is the coolest concept ever,” They wrote. “Dana needs to add a Royal rumble belt where five prospects from every division [fight in a battle royale].”
10 fighter free-for-all at Dogfight Wild Tournament
Backed by an arena setting complete with an Emperor announcer, ten fighters squared off on an open mat surrounded by spectators. Around the mat was a red ring, serving as a ring-out, where fighters who crossed the threshold were eliminated from the competition. A team of officials pushed fighters back into the combat zone when they got too close.
There were brief pauses in the action when fighters were eliminated, and it was interesting to see the strategy that came into play. Smaller fighters let heavyweights do their dirty work, before ganging up on their larger adversaries.
Dogfight Wild Tournament also hosted several gimmick fights harkening back to the stone age of MMA, including Medieval knight fighting, capoeira vs. Muay Thai, and more.
