Alex Pereira is ready to fight Jon Jones for the UFC heavyweight title

Since arriving in the UFC, Alex Pereira has proven himself to be one of the most dangerous competitors the organization has ever seen.

Blessed with a thunderous left hook, the Brazilian has the power to finish anybody he lands on.

With that in mind, while he may not have the wrestling prowess to compete with Jon Jones in the grappling department, the fact that the Brazilian could switch the icon’s lights out with one single shot, would still be enough to leave fans on the edge of their seats.

Believing that he could, in fact, connect with that all-important shot, Pereira made an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, where he announced to the world that the American is the man he wants next.

The 37-year-old explained: “I’m the champ, I want to fight the champ. Let’s make the fight with Jon Jones; this is the fight I want at heavyweight.

When asked if it could happen this year, Pereira replied: “Anything is possible.”

While a rivalry with Jones would be fantastic, it’s unlikely to be quite as intense as the one Pereira shared with Israel Adesanya.

The pair of strikers produced something truly special, with their styles gelling for a total of four incredible wars, spread across two sports.

However, while many foes hold a grudge, ‘Poatan’ has nothing but respect for his old nemesis, crediting him for one major thing in his UFC career.
