Former UFC champion teases one last run in the promotion despite being drafted in GFL

Former UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold was recently signed by new MMA promotion GFL but that hasn’t stopped him from teasing a final run in the UFC.

Earlier last week, the new MMA promotion, GFL held its Draft ahead of its inaugural event in April, however, it came with its plethora of issues.

Ahead of the Draft, the promotion began announcing the signings of fighters that would be included in the draft but several fighters came out and claimed that they hadn’t actually signed contracts.

One fighter who was signed, though, was former UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold.

Luke Rockhold wants one last UFC run despite GFL signing

In last week’s Draft, Rockhold was drafted to the Dubai team roster with the likes of Tyron Woodley, Derek Brunson, and Abubakar Nurmagomedov.

Despite having been picked in the Draft, the former UFC champion has revealed that he is interested in one last run in the UFC as he still wants to be active.

“I like all the matchups (in the UFC) so you never know, I’m still fighting, I still feel good, I’m still getting in the game but first things first, we’ve got (Chris) Weidman, we’ve got Gegard (Mousasi), we’ve got some fun fights (in the GFL),” Rockhold explained to Submission Radio.

“Khamzat (Chimaev) turned down a fight against me, when I was supposed to come back, my first fight back before Paulo Costa, they tried to book that fight and he didn’t want to play,” Rockhold revealed.

Before he can even consider a return to the UFC, he will need to fulfill whatever his obligations are with the GFL having been signed to their Dubai roster.

Rockhold wants the GFL to sign Michael Bisping so they can settle their feud

One of Rockhold’s biggest feuds throughout his career was with Michael Bisping. They have fought each other twice and both have one win, leaving their rivalry unsettled.

Since Bisping’s MMA retirement, the two have seemingly squashed their feud, however, Rockhold would like the GFL to sign the former UFC champion so that they can finally settle with a trilogy.

“Maybe they can sign Bisping too, bring his ass back,” Rockhold said.

Although Bisping only has one eye, the promotion has made several questionable signings of former UFC fighters who are over the age of 40 and not in healthy fighting condition.
