Paddy Pimblett breaks his silence following viral fight in the gym where he wouldn’t let go of choke

Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett continues to be an extremely divisive figure in the sport of MMA and his recent out of cage antics have caused quite the stir.

Ever since joining the UFC back in 2021, Paddy Pimblett has continued to grow his name and has become one of the biggest names in the sport.

This past July, ‘The Baddy’ picked up the biggest win of his career thus far when he submitted Bobby Green in round one of their UFC 304 fight which resulted in Pimblett gaining a lightweight ranking.

Paddy Pimblett breaks his silence following recent gym fight

The Brit is currently out of action and out of camp, waiting for his next fight to be booked. And with that, he has taken that opportunity to squash a feud with a longtime rival.

Pimblett and Oktagon MMA fighter, Dennis Frimpong have been beefing online for a while after Frimpong claimed he could knock out Pimblett.

The two then organised to fight at Frimpong’s gym, Manchester Top Team, to finally settle their beef. They went on to fight and Pimblett subsequently choked the Irishman out after five minutes.

However, things turned frantic as Pimblett refused to let go of the choke despite Frimpong tapping many times, which resulted in several spectators attempting to pull Pimblett off.

The Brit has received a lot of criticism following the viral video, especially considering Frimpong has only had five professional fights and didn’t turn pro long ago.

Despite that, attempting to shutdown the criticism, Pimblett has broken his silence and provided some context around the fight.

“He agreed to no tapping beforehand. All you butthurt idiots who don’t know what you’re talking about just pipe down don’t talk when you don’t know the context,” he began to explain.

“Not my fault he tapped like a (dog) when he was saying he was going to KO me on the feet and got out struck,” Pimblett continued.

What’s next for Paddy Pimblett in the UFC?

With Pimblett having squashed his feud with Frimpong outside of the cage, he will likely be looking for an early return to the UFC Octagon this year.

The promotion recently announced their return to London will take place on March 22 and the event will be headlined by Leon Edwards vs Jack Della Maddalena, with the card including Pimblett’s teammate, Molly McCann.

‘The Baddy’ is always a shoe-in to fight on the London events considering his star power over that side of the pond. He has previously expressed desire in fighting Renato Moicano, who lost his UFC lightweight title fight against Islam Makhachev this past Saturday at UFC 311.

Pimblett is currently ranked 13th in the 155lb division and will be hopeful of cracking the top ten with his next fight.
