Of all the losers at UFC 311, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill was one of the biggest.
After losing to Alex Pereira in a short-notice booking at UFC 300, Hill was rewarded with a main card feature fight against divisional bogeyman Jiri Prochazka. ‘Sweet Dreams’ brought his A-game, landing shots down the pipe and landing some crushing clinch knees, but it wasn’t enough.
Just over halfway into round three, Prochazka defeated Hill by TKO. ‘BJP’ clubbed Hill with an uppercut and threw him to the ground with a collar-tie before follow-up shots sealed the deal.

Behind-the-scenes footage shows Jamahal Hill dealing with UFC 311 loss
In a video shared by ESPN, Hill is seen squatting on the floor seemingly moments after walking beneath the fan stands. He stays there for a moment with his head hanging before letting out an anguished cry and getting up. Prochazka’s post-fight interview can be heard in the background, adding insult to injury.
The rest of the footage follows a dejected Hill walking to the back rooms.
UFC 311 was Jamahal Hill’s toughest loss to date
The loss is emphasized by the fact it was a three-round beatdown. Both of Hill’s previous losses have asterisks. First, he suffered an injury while being caught in a submission attempt by Paul Craig, and second, Hill believes the officiating in his fight against ‘Poatan’ led to his knockout.
Now, the loss to Prochazka is a tough pill to swallow. It’s also Hill’s first back-to-back loss since becoming champion against Glover Teixeira at UFC 283. MMA has no mercy; extreme lows can come straight after the highest highs, and Hill is no different.
