Daniel Cormier and Dana White disagree over whether Arman Tsarukyan should get the next shot at Islam Makhachev

On Saturday evening, Islam Makhachev produced a tremendous display, choking out Renato Moicano in the very first round.

However, the Dagestani’s Brazilian opponent wasn’t the man who was originally meant to be in there.

Initially, Arman Tsarukyan had been billed as the B-side of the headline attraction, with the talented fighter buzzing to have finally seemingly had his opportunity to fight for UFC gold.

Alas, the contender sustained an injury that left him unable to compete.

Because of this, Dana White is insistent he’ll have to earn his way back to the top. However, Daniel Cormier is convinced the Armenian still deserves his shot at the throne.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube page, ‘DC’ said: “I believe it still needs to be Tsarukyan. Because I believe Tsarukyan, even though it’s a rematch and even though we know Charles [Oliveira] is supposed to be next, I still feel like Tsarukyan’s size, his abilities, his skill set, could present the biggest problems for Islam Makhachev.”

Following Makhachev’s big win, Cormier was so impressed that he felt it necessary to reward his good friend.

He promptly headed to the dressing room, where the icon was celebrating the result.

With a beaming smile on his face, the former two-weight world champion gave the lightweight King an amazing gift.
