The lightweight champion made the fourth defense of his championship belt, in front of a raucous crowd inside the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, USA.

On Saturday night, Islam Makhachev produced a truly sensational performance, finishing Renato Moicano inside the very first round with a brabo choke.
The display cemented the Dagestani’s place as one of the greatest lightweights the UFC has ever seen.
In the aftermath of the contest, the 33-year-old was met by his dear friend, Daniel Cormier, who joyfully handed him a box of pastries and subsequently uploaded the interaction to his YouTube channel.
As Makhachev smiled, ‘DC’ beamed: “You think I lie, brother? Special for you. Look at that.”

As the 155-pound King opened the box, Cormier enthused: “Congratulations, champ, you’re the best in the world.”
The pair then started to consume the sweet treats, with the former two-weight champion ultimately having to wipe sugar out of the victorious fighter’s beard.
The American then insisted: “Dagestan, we go in July this year, me and you.”

It was fantastic to see Cormier and Makhachev getting on so well, especially considering mere days before, tensions erupted between the pair.
Having conquered the UFC in two divisions, very few would dare make fun of the Louisianian.
But it’s fair to say the lightweight title-holder isn’t intimidated.
After making a joke that didn’t go down particularly well, Cormier gave him an almighty slap.
