Darren Till and Anthony Taylor come to blows in heated final face-off ahead of Misfits Boxing fight

Darren Till had to be dragged away from Anthony Taylor after pushing his rival in their final face-off tonight in Manchester.

The former UFC welterweight title contender is making his Misfits Boxing debut tomorrow night at the Co-Op Live in Manchester. He had been due to face Tommy Fury, but the Love Island star controversially pulled out over fears that he would be kicked during the fight.

Now, Till is taking on former Bellator star Taylor, who is the Misfits light-heavyweight champion. However, the fight is considerably up in weight from there, and Till tipped the scales 10lb heavier than his final fight under the UFC baner.

Darren Till tips the scales at a massive 195lb for boxing debut

On Friday morning, Darren Till and Anthony Taylor both made the weight for their fight before heading into the city centre for a ceremonial weigh-in. Having previously competed as low as featherweight in his Bellator days, the 5’7″ American tipped the scales at a whopping 192.5lb.

However, Till still managed to come in a few pounds heavier as expected at the catchweight limit of 195lb. The Brit used to struggle to get down to the 170lb championship weight for UFC welterweight fights, and ended out his career in the promotion at middleweight.

But he has bulked up even further for his boxing run, which was due to start at heavyweight against Fury tomorrow night. And while Taylor may have bulked his way up to the weight, it’s likely there will be a significant gap in weight for fight night tomorrow as Till piles more pounds on.

Darren Till has to be dragged apart from Anthony Taylor in final face-off

After completely dismissing a face-off with Taylor at yesterday’s press conference, Till was forced to go head-to-head with his rival as he ducked through security and got right in the Brit’s face at weigh-ins. This led to a shove from Till and security getting involved to drag the duo apart.

Both men were uncharacteristically quiet in their post-show interviews with commentator Ben Davis, although Till did open up a bit more on the broadcast with Riley Osbourne. He appeared to have mellowed almost instantly and thanked Taylor for helping to push the fight during the week.

“I think I sold the fight with Tommy and everyone wanted to tune in regardless,” he explained. “Anthony has been selling the fight for me this week which I’m pleased about so I haven’t had to do too much of the heavy lifting this week. Big respect to AT for that.

“He’s actually a fun guy to be around, he brings the energy, I don’t think there’s anything malicious in what he does. So yeah, I don’t mind AT, I don’t mind him at all.”
