Alex Pereira sends UFC fans wild as he teases fight news in three-word social media post

Fans might be getting Alex Pereira fight news sooner than they think.

‘Poatan’ had meteoric success in 2024, defending his light heavyweight strap on three short-notice occasions. Pereira demolished Jamahal Hill at UFC 300, before getting back-to-back finishes over Jiri Prochazka and Khalil Rountree Jr..

Pereira nearly filled in for UFC 310 as Belal Muhammad withdrew with an infection. This didn’t happen, as Pereira explained he would take some time off to recover. Now, Pereira has hinted at his next fight in a short and sweet message to his fans.

UFC champ Alex Pereira tells fans to ‘stay tuned’ for new fight news

“Stay tuned. Chama,” Pereira wrote in a post on X. ‘Chama’ being his slogan, meaning ‘let’s go.’

There’s no hint as to who it could be, but Pereira has already snubbed Magomed Ankalaev. As for other potential challengers, the light heavyweight rankings don’t offer much else.

No. 2 Prochazka and No. 3 Hill fight at UFC 311, No. 4 Jan Blachowicz fights No. 6 Carlos Ulberg at UFC London, and No. 5 Aleksandar Rakic is on a two-fight losing streak.

Who Alex Pereira could be fighting next

It’s safe to assume that the UFC will only reserve Pereira for super fights. They’ll be looking to squeeze the most value out of the 37-year-old ex-kickboxer while he’s still winning.

Not only has Pereira hinted at a move to heavyweight in the past, but UFC CEO Dana White alleges that a secret fight ‘nobody will see coming’ is being put together this year. Reports of Pereira fighting Alexander Volkov at heavyweight have been dismissed, but this doesn’t rule out another heavyweight clash.

A Jon Jones fight could be on the cards, with ‘Bones’ wanting to fight Pereira over interim titleholder Tom Aspinall. Moreover, Jones could retire, and Pereira could fight Aspinall for the undisputed belt.
