Michael Bisping was in awe when he met Wesley Snipes

In 2025, fans know Michael Bisping for winning the UFC title and starring in major films, but to his core, he’s still the same working-class guy from the North West of England he’s always been.

His rise to fame is a credit to his fighting heart, giving everything in his being to becoming world champion—a goal which he achieved, and consequently inspired others to chase themselves.

Throughout his time as a professional athlete, Bisping was renowned for his larger-than-life personality, which has played a major part in his acting career, with ‘The Count’ starring in hits like XXX: Return of Xander Cage and both Den of Thieves films.

However, whether it’s on a movie set or broadcasting for the UFC, Bisping is never taken aback by the massive names he comes into contact with.

But back in the day, when he first exploded onto the scene, the Englishman bumped into Wesley Snipes and couldn’t quite believe the actor, famous for starring in the Blade franchise, recognized him.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, Bisping reminisced: “I remember when I first came out of Clitheroe, and I met Wesley Snipes. I was star-struck then. But I’d never met a celebrity before.

“Now, I’m kind of used to it, and I know that sounds like, ‘Ooh, he’s changed’, I haven’t changed, but you kind of adapt to your environment.

“I remember the first event the UFC flew me to, I’d just come off The Ultimate Fighter. I get a tap on the shoulder, I look around, and it’s Wesley Snipes.

“He says, ‘How are you doing, champ’? I’m like, ‘You know who I am’? He’s like, ‘Yeah, course. I watch you all the time on The Ultimate Fighter’.

“I acted like such a dork; I was like, ‘I’m such a big fan’. He’s like, ‘Get away from this nerd’.”
